Why choose us?
Our philosophy is FUN as we move through the adult & child award, onto the Discovery Duckling awards (1-4), Duckling awards
(1-4) then our FUNdamentals stages 1-7 of the Swim England Learn to Swim programme. We progress a child’s fundamental movement skills (Locomotor skills, manipulative skills, balance & stability skills) and more specifically their Core Aquatic Skills which link to their fundamental movement skills (entries & exits, skulling & treading, travel & orientation, balance & buoyancy, streamlining & aquatic breathing) using song, the use of toys & games. Kids then have the opportunity to move into the competitive stage of their swimming journey, stsges 8-10. Stages 8-10 are about building sport specific skills to encourage focus on aquatic sports such as Competitive Swimming, Diving, Artistic Swimming and water polo.

Here at Zest, we believe in inclusion and equality. We provide 1:1 lessons primarily for those kiddies that need a little more attention/ gentle approach to swimming, as well as small group lessons and we keep our classes small, 4:1, unless stage 7 & above. This gives the learners the most learning time during each lesson and therefore the best chance of learning more quickly.
Children usually move from having their parents with them in the pool, whether it be as part of baby/toddler classes or just part of normal family swim sessions. We believe that children who start our programme need to feel that same level of contact and rapport with us as their swimming teachers that they develop with their parents or guardians whilst swimming. We do not rely on swimming aids, instead we only use aids to progress technique. We use ourselves as aids until the child is ready to put their heads into the water and float unaided. When they can do this we can help them bring in the leg kick, arm movements, breathing patterns and timing of all 4 swimming strokes. Front Crawl, Back Stroke, Breaststroke, & Butterfly.
