I learned to swim when I was 3. By age 12, myself & my Sister were swimming most days. It massively helped that our local pool was a 5 minute walk away. During my informative years, swimming was a huge part of my life. As a teenager, I swam competitively for my school, club and county. I first coached swimming when I was 16 and achieved my first aquatic qualification, the Bronze Medallion certification. I assisted coaches with younger club members. At high school, I discovered I was a better hockey player than I was a swimmer. Over time swimming took a back seat to hockey. I am currently in my 47th season as a competitive hockey player. I have an SSTQ (Scottish Swimming Teachers’ Qualification). I previously held an ASA Stage 2 in Aquatics. I have a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science and have other sports and health & fitness qualifications. I started working for Zest in 2015. I love seeing the children having fun in the pool and also love seeing them progress from nervous swimmers to confident swimmers. It’s very rewarding seeing our young swimmers achieve the various Swim England stages and swimming amazing distances. Their achievements have been known to bring a tear to my eye.
